All Things Green in Oregon

Oregon Green Solutions

Oregon Green Solutions was founded to help homeowners save money while improving the environment. In addition to conducting energy audits, we offer duct sealing and air sealing as these improvements typically provide the greatest return to the homeowner.

Oregon Enviromental Council

The Oregon Environmental Council advances innovative, collaborative solutions to Oregon’s environmental challenges for today and future generations.  Back in 1968, a group of ordinary citizens came together to form the Oregon Environmental Council. These were PTA and garden club members, outdoor enthusiasts, conservationists and other folks who believed they could get more done to protect the legacy of a clean and healthy Oregon by working together.  Today, OEC puts these same values into action as we bring Oregonians together for a healthy environment. Click here to see our strategic plan.  And we're efficient too: 87% of our income goes directly to our program work. Join thousands of Oregonians by becoming a member and supporting our work.

Portland Wind and Solar

Portland Wind and Solar is a small e-commerce business based in Portland, Oregon.  Our goal is to provide the most accessible renewable energy options.  Solar and wind generators have been around for a long time, but only recently have they become readily available and affordable for the average individual. We strive to make green energy easy to understand so that, no matter your background, with a little research you can find the best fit for you.  Our website is a forum for the education of solar and wind energy as well as a place to buy the products necessary to implement a system tailored to you.

Portland Water Bureau

Customers of the Portland Water Bureau receive their water from one of two sources: The Bull Run watershed, a surface water source of water or the Columbia South Shore Well Field, a groundwater source.

The Bull Run watershed acts as Portland's primary source of tap water, providing water to customers since 1895. The Columbia South Shore Well Field acts as a backup during turbidity events or other supply problems in the watershed. It also acts as a seasonal supply augmentation source.

Healthy Air Oregon

Portland Street Car

Portland Streetcar began operations July 20, 2001 as the first modern streetcar system in the country. In 2009 we broke ground on the Loop alignment which will connect downtown Portland to the Rose Quarter, Lloyd District, Convention Center, Central Eastside and OMSI. The next two years promise to be exciting as we celebrate our 10th anniversary next year followed in 2012 by the opening of the Loop.

Eco Shuttle

ecoShuttle™ is a Portland transportation service that offers environmentally friendly transportation for an evolving travel industry. By utilizing 100% biodiesel from waste grease, a non-toxic, biodegradable, and carbon-friendly fuel to power our fleet, customers can truly enjoy guilt-free charter bus services. By researching the latest fuel technologies, ecoShuttle promises to continually upgrade as it becomes available. Recently, our 25-passenger mini-bus was converted to run on Waste Vegetable Oil “WVO”, courtesy of Green Drop Garage.  Using fryer grease from local Portland brewer Hopworks, we’re creating a carbon neutral fuel from the seed to your french fries and finally to our exhaust emissions (or lack thereof).

ReDirect Guide

The ReDirect Guide is a new breed of media company - one that is dedicated solely to creating innovative and effective media that encourages green living and sustainable communities; one that focuses on the end result of its messages instead of simply contributing to the chatter of commercialism; one that holds itself to the market rigors of a for-profit corporation while operating with a mission and ethics expected of a non-profit organization; and one whose actions are driven by three bottom lines - planet, people, profit.  We are best known as the publishers of the ReDirect Guides - a green business directory and resource guide for each of the three regions we serve. These annual directories of healthy and sustainable businesses are chock full of substantially better options for everyday purchases, presented alongside regionally appropriate educational articles and community resources. Each business, organization, and resource is screened and qualified by our staff to ensure that we are promoting environmentally and socially responsible products and services.
